Welcome back!

Postby Alex » Thu Jul 12, 2007 5:57 pm

As you probably noticed, the site has been down for a few days. This was longer than I expected, however the site is now back again running phpBB 3! None of the extra stuff (screenshots, polls, etc) from our previous site have been added, however you can expect them to return within the next week. I would have added them before making this new site live, however I felt that I ought to put the site back up.

As usual with any site upgrade, I've probably broken something :). So, if you encounter any issues, you can PM or Email me. Current known issues are that some signatures and posts have their BBCode broken, and some smileys aren't showing. Signatures: can be fixed by rewriting the signature in the User Control Panel. Posts: You'll have to live with it, new posts won't have this issue. Smileys: Same.

As an added bonus, spam should have been eliminated ;) Anyway, sorry for the downtime guys/gals, and I hope this new site will improve the performance and stability of the site. Thanks!

Thank you :P (And thanks for helping me test btw)

Anyway, I forgot to mention: Please give me cookies for my work on the site! I've devoted all of this week to fixing the site, I demand payment! ;)

Quite a nice work. You surely had an hard time converting databases :)

Put it this way: manually editing random parts of a 75Mb database dump file is not fun :)

Another hard time... Migrating an entire website with its databases is surely not fun at all... Thanks Alex for all that you do for the community :ugeek:

Thanks. Again, I'm really sorry for the extra downtime. My domain registrar decided that it didn't feel like updating the DNS settings, so then I had to submit a support request, wait for a reply, etc. But at least we're up now :) This should be the last downtime for a very long time, hopefully, and I also hope the site will be faster.
