The GUI looks really good, except you need a relatively new machine to run it. IE is apparently shaping up to surpass the opensource browsers, such as FireFox.

IE is approaching Firefox, but not quite to the point of surpassing it yet. Firefox still has little details going for it, not the least of which is that it still feels lots faster (I know I'm comparing a final product to a preview of a beta, but I'm taking that into account). Firefox renders pages immediately, while IE waits until the whole page is loaded in most situations. This makes Firefox feel a lot faster, even if total page rendering time is less in IE, especially on dialup.

This makes
1st)ff consuming more cpu time, becuase it renders pages multiple times
2nd)ff just looking faster. If you messure the time needed to render the entire page, ie isn't slower at all.

Percieved speed matters too-- especially over slower connections. I'm not sitting with a stopwatch timing page render times-- I'm trying to read a website. If the browser shows me the content faster, that is good.

I prefer proper content display, not a collection of prerendered website clusters.

huh? That's not what I'm talking about. Firefox progressively displays the website in every case, while IE doesn't in many circumstances (see this post on Channel9).

Hello,

as long time Windows user I doesn`t like Windows. Specifically Vista. Vista is more like a poor copy of XP. Almost the same worst clearness (I like the old Windows Style much more). Some program features are copied from MAC what is very amusing.

Anyway, go to the real vexations. The Problems that there are not much drivers available at the moment is more like a starting disease. But what I definitely hate is the observation and paternalism. Vista is always connecting to Microsoft to send userspecific things, no downloads without the authentification programm of microsoft, if you change hardware you have to register new and so on. And the stupid requests if you want to look into a system option. "Do you realy want to start this...?". Man, yes I want to see them, its no mistake to show it to me and there are no damage to the system if I see them! Next thing ist the requirement of new and big computer hardware.

So in my opinion Vista is no longer an option of choise of an OS.

Greetings
